After the Russian strike on the city of Sumy, in northeastern Ukraine, outrage quickly spread worldwide, including in the United States.
It was one of the deadliest strikes in months, and according to the US envoy to Ukraine, Keith Kellogg, it “exceeds all bounds of decency”.
“The attack by Russian forces on civilian targets in Sumy exceeds all bounds of decency. As a former military officer, I know what targeted strikes are, and this is unacceptable,” said Kellogg on the social media network X (formerly Twitter).
Meanwhile, the US Secretary of State, Marco Rubio, described the attack as “horrific” and offered his condolences to the victims’ families (34 to date). “It’s a tragic reminder of the reason for President Trump’s and his administration’s efforts to invest so much time and energy to end this war and achieve lasting peace,” he highlighted on X.
