A wedding celebration turned into a nightmare when the floor of a historic convent collapsed, injuring 30 people, some critically, in Italy on Saturday.
The incident happened at 15th-century building near Pistoia, north of Florence, where a wedding reception was being held.
According to Italian media, about 60 guests were dancing on the first floor when the floor suddenly gave way, sending them crashing into the ground floor.
Tuscany’s regional governor Eugenio Giani said five of the injured were in critical condition and were airlifted to nearby hospitals.
He praised the swift response of the emergency services, who arrived at the scene within minutes and rescued the trapped victims.
No one was reported missing.
However, the official said that the cause of the collapse is still under investigation.
