OYO BEGINS DEMOLITION OF BUILDINGS AROUND CIRCULAR ROADS

Oyo State Ministry of Lands, Housing and Urban Development has commenced the phase one demolition of buildings constructed around circular roads in the state.

The exercise was in compliance with the directive of the state governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde towards the construction of circular roads in the state.

The team was led by the director of Physical Planning, Mr. Femi Akinwale to Badeku area of Ibadan.

According to the Ministry, the residents of Badeku area were earlier issued a 3week quit notice on the 15th of January 2024, 9th February 2024 and a reminder on the 10th of March, 2024 respectively to vacate the environment, which they ignored.

The Ministry added that despite the fact that the area was served adequate notice, erection of new buildings was still ongoing, while those that have official documents and legal structures have been compensated.

Properties worth billions of naira including a church and newly laid house foundations were demolished.
