Ex-Manchester United forward Mason Greenwoodresumed his goal-scoring streak in Ligue 1 on Saturday.
The 23-year-old’s latest contribution saw him slot away a penalty in Marseille’s dominating 5-1 victory over relegation prospects Saint-Etienne. This brings his tally in Ligue 1 this season to 14 goals in 22 appearances.
It’s clear that Greenwood is enjoying his time in France not only from his goals, but from his Instagram activity. His latest story post was a picture of him with his teammates following their latest victory.
The former England international also seems to have picked out his own celebration. Many photos on his social media pages are of him celebrating by pretending to be asleep, clearly something he’s trying to make his own.
This year alone, Greenwood has secured four goals and two assists. This is more than United attackers Rasmus Hojlund, Alejandro Garnacho and Joshua Zirkzee have each individually all season.
The youngster left Old Trafford due to a mutual agreement following legal charges in which Greenwood was cleared of. A loan move to Getafe allowed him to pick up his footballing career again in which he has continued in France where he moved for a £26.6m fee.
Greenwood, who first started playing for United aged nine, is on a five-year-deal at Marseille. United are believed to have a sell-on clause worth around 40 to 50 per cent.
The clause could prove to be a significant money maker for the club. When the forward first went to Getafe, Transfermarkt listed his value at just over £4m – now, following a successful career revamp, his price tag has rocketed north of £30m in less than two years.
