Hamas has named four hostages who will be released on Saturday as part of its ceasefire dealwith Israel.
Karina Ariev, Daniella Gilboa, Naama Levy and Liri Albag – four female soldiers who served with the Israel Defence Forces (IDF) – will be freed in exchange for 200 Palestinian prisoners.
The four women were taken hostage from the Nahal Oz base in southern Israel on 7 October 2023 when Hamas carried out its cross-border attack.
All four are believed to be alive, NBC News reported, citing a Hamas official.
Hamas fighters began crowding a square in Gaza City for the expected handover of the hostages to the Red Cross on Saturday morning.
This will be the second exchange of Israeli hostages for Palestinian prisoners since the ceasefire came into effect last Sunday.
Three hostages and 90 prisoners were swapped on the first day of the ceasefire.
One of the hostages freed on the first day of the ceasefire was Emily Damari, a 27-year British-Israeli citizen who had spent 471 days in Hamas captivity.
