Andreas Brehme, Hero of 1990 World Cup, Passes Away at 63

Today, Germany player, and hero of the 1990 World Cup, Andreas Brehme, passed away at the age of 63.

Brehme’s sudden demise, attributed to a cardiac arrest, was confirmed by his partner, partner Susanne Schaefer.

In 1990, during the FIFA World Cup finals, while playing for Germany against Argentina, Brehme took a penalty, securing a 1-0 victory for his team.

West Germany was crowned champions, and Brehme’s left foot had etched its name in football folklore

During his career, Brehme played 86 times for Germany and also won the Bundesliga with Kaiserslautern and Bayern Munich, plus a Serie A title with Inter Milan.
