9 years! Robinho parole application rejected & will spend Christmas in prison

According to multiple media reports, former Brazilian football star Robinho, who has played for Manchester City and Real Madrid, has been denied parole and will spend this Christmas in a Brazilian prison, unable to see his wife and three children.

Robinho was convicted of rape in Italy and sentenced to nine years in prison. He started serving his sentence in March this year. According to reports, the Brazilian prison administration said in a statement that Robinho is serving his sentence in a closed – type prison and is not eligible for parole because this is a benefit provided by the judiciary to prisoners serving sentences in semi – open – type prisons.

Moreover, the prison where Robinho is detained also confirmed that there are no special arrangements for activities during Christmas and New Year because they believe that this prison already provides better conditions than other prisons in São Paulo state.

According to a report by The Sun earlier this year, Robinho has a net worth of approximately £60 million. He is learning skills to repair household appliances in prison and occasionally plays football.
