A 25-year-old man, Ayomide Ibrahim, who allegedly burgled and stole from worship centres in Ogun State, has been arrested by the So-Safe Corps, the state’s community security outfit.
According to a press statement from the Corps, Ibrahim was caught red-handed while stealing aluminum fittings from an uncompleted building in Atan, Ado Odo Ota Local Government Area, on 25 January, 2024.
The statement, signed by the State Commander of the Corps, Commander (Dr) Soji Ganzallo, and the Director of Information and Public Relations of the Corps, Assistant Commander Moruf Yusuf, said that Ibrahim confessed to being part of a gang that specialised in breaking into worship centres and stealing church instruments.
He revealed that he had relocated from Abeokuta to join his accomplice, Biola Adebesin, who was earlier arrested by the Corps on 18 January, at Baba Ode, Iju.
Ibrahim also confessed that they sold the stolen items at Arena Shopping Complex in Oshodi, Lagos.
The statement however added that Ibrahim and the recovered exhibits were handed over to the Nigeria Police Force, Onipaanu Divisional Police Headquarters, for further investigation and prosecution.
